WALL STABILIZATION

Foundation Solution - Wall Stabilization

Wall stabilizers or wall reinforcement systems are components used in foundation repair to address bowing or leaning walls. These systems are designed to stabilize and prevent further lateral movement of foundation walls, ensuring the structural integrity of a building.

At HomeStrong we offer several different solutions to stabilize bowing or leaning foundation walls.  The most popular solutions are wall anchors, helical tiebacks, wall braces, and carbon strapping.  These solutions will permanently stabilize your foundation walls and in some cases give us the ability to straighten the walls at the time of installation!

WHAT IS

Wall Stabilization?

Wall stabilizers, also known as wall anchors or wall reinforcement systems, are components used in foundation repair to address issues such as bowing or leaning walls. These systems are designed to stabilize and prevent further movement of foundation walls, ensuring the structural integrity of a building.

The installation process of wall stabilizers involves placing them on the interior side of the foundation wall. This process requires excavating small sections of soil along the foundation to expose the wall. Holes are drilled at predetermined intervals through the foundation wall, and horizontal steel rods or cables are inserted through these holes, extending from the interior of the basement or crawl space to the soil outside. The plate installation phase includes placing steel plates, also known as anchor plates, on the exterior ends of the rods or cables against the soil outside the foundation. These plates serve as anchors, providing lateral support and preventing further inward movement of the foundation wall. Following this, a tightening mechanism is employed to tighten the rods or cables, either manually or with hydraulic equipment. This tension helps counteract external pressure that may be causing the wall to bow or lean. As the rods are tightened, the wall stabilizers work to restore and maintain the vertical alignment of the foundation wall.
